Dr Nikhil Gupta is a GI Surgeon of very high repute. He did is MBBS from prestigious Maulana Azad Medical College. He was excellent all throughout his MBBS. He was awarded as the best all rounder of his Batch 1998 from then chief minister late Smt. Shiela Dixit. He had multiple honours all through out his MBBS. He was Vice President of Maulana Azad Medical College in 2001. 1–1e did his Masters in General Surgery (M.S.) from Lady Hardinge Medical College. During his 3 years of training, he worked relentlessly in the branch of general surgery. There he developed passion of pursuing Gastrointestinal Surge1Y. He completed his M.Ch. In G. I. Surgery from G. B. Pant. There he gained extensive experience in managing complex GI cases.
His passionate attitude towards poor patients made him stand apart. After completing M. Ch. He was assistant professor in the same hospital for 18 months. After that he pursued his passion of GI Oncosurgery by joining as a consultant in Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute. There he developed a holistic approach towards managing GI cancer patients. He developed passion for treating last stage patients for Cytoreductive surgery and 1–11PEC the only chance of cure for stage IV patients. In order to further hone his skills, he went to Prof Sugarbaker in Washington DC, in the field of peritoneal surface malignancies. He applied his skills and experience of CRS and HIPEC in Indian patients and benefited them. It has long been proven that patients of cancer benefit with Minimal Accesss Surgery. So why deny Indian patients with that benefit? Hence he went to South Korea to further polish his skills in the field of Minimal Access Surgery in Colorectal cancers. It was a boon for patients here as now they could be effectively operated with minimal scar and excellent outcomes. After working for four and a half years, he moved as Senior Consultant and Head of dept of Sri Balaji Action Medical Institute and Action Cancer Hospital. There he took charge of the GI Surgery department and worked for 7 years providing high quality and affordable treatment to his patients.
He introduced robotic surgery’ in field of GI surgery in Action group of hospitals. His areas of interest are mainly GI Cancer and complex GI surgery cases and treats them by a minimally invasive technique. Other areas of interest are complex gall bladder stone disease, Bile duct injury, Hydatid Cyst,.
